Fintech teams that outlast the product roadmap
101,700 hours across four financial products since 2022, and 96,000 of it on two still running. The largest is a consumer investing and banking app we have staffed for four and a half years — 51 people over 54 months, still shipping.

What we take on in financial products
Consumer money products, held for years
Our largest financial engagement is a consumer investing and banking app: 93,200 hours since March 2022, 51 people on it over 54 active months, and still running. That is the shape this work takes when it goes well — the same people through four years of regulatory change, not a team that hands over every eighteen months.
Ledgers, reconciliation and the second month
The integration is rarely the hard part. Retries that must not double-charge, a payout that lands in a different period from the charge, a dispute that arrives after the accounting is closed. Our Stripe practice is the same people doing this inside products they already run, which is deliberate: payments touch the schema, the jobs and the admin.
Systems that are audited and have to stay up
Where correctness and traceability outrank iteration speed, which is what our Java practice exists for — five engineers and 10,600 hours since 2024 on a platform where a mistake is a reconciliation problem rather than a bug report. The work is transactional services and integrations with banking, payment and compliance providers.
Taking over a financial system whose team has gone
The most expensive kind of handover, because the business rules live in a cron job and a database trigger rather than in a document. We usually start with an independent audit and a map of where money actually moves before anyone changes anything.
How a fintech engagement starts
- Days 1–2
A call, then a written profile of the people you need, and a straight answer about whether your timeline survives contact with your compliance calendar. Financial products carry a review tail that most briefs price at zero.
- Days 3–10
Usually a match rather than a search. Financial work here is staffed from the React, Rails, Node and Java people already on client engagements; when we do recruit, our closed roles run a median of 28 days from opening to a signed offer.
- First week on the project
Read access before commit access. The developer maps what moves money and what runs on a schedule, because on an inherited financial system that map exists nowhere else — and the first thing we hand back is the list of what will slow them down.
- Every month after
The hours logged, published the way they are on this page, and a team you can scale down without renegotiating the arrangement.
How the team is shaped
Staff augmentation into an existing team
One to four engineers inside your product team, working to your process, your review and your change-control. The common shape, and the one our largest financial engagement has run on for four and a half years.
A team with its own lead
Engineers plus a project manager on your standups, for products where the engineering management is not in-house yet. Reporting is hours logged rather than a status colour.
A defined piece with an end
A payments migration, a ledger rebuild, an audit of a system you have just acquired. Fixed scope only where the scope genuinely is fixed — for continuous product work it costs the client more.
Where the team sits, and how people get here
Where the team sits
More than half our engineers now sit in Latin America, with most of the rest in Eastern Europe. On money products the overlap pays for itself on the questions that block work until someone answers them — whether a field can be logged, whether a retry can charge twice — because waiting a day for that answer costs more than the change does.
How people get here
Financial work here is staffed from the same funnel as everything else: about one hire per 130 applications on the front-end side, 157 on the back end, and 101 in Rails. There is no separate, cheaper tier for this work, and the Java practice that carries the transactional core is the smallest and most deliberately staffed team we run.
